This thirtyfour year-old Copenhagen based composer is from a home of music. As the son of Danish Musician and Sound-engineer Leif Roden from the pink-floyd´ish beatgroup Alrune Rod. By the time Max was born the Father had stop touring and was working with sound-engineering - so as a youngling Max was toddling around with mic-stands and building fortresses out of flightcases backstage of the biggest rock-venues in Denmark. And when daddy got a new Synth or Reverb-Module the old one would end up in Max´s room.
This lit the spark of finding his own expression in music. So he started learning by doing but not in the classical way with a music-teacher but by turning buttons and knobs and clicking the mouse. Exploring the electronic side of making music at the age of 15 he was spending every free minute in the back of the B-Studio with his mate. Working hundreds of hours on the Akai sampler deconstructing old vinyls. This studio was a big part his self-education.
Over the last seven years Max has been more in touch with his electronic side as a DJ and producer under the moniker Hankat among other Monikers and Projects. Playing his original music as a one-man live act got him gigs all over Denmark at festivals and clubs – it even came to a performance in a sold-out DR Koncerthuset in the famous Studio One at the Sound Of Copenhagen Concert. He went on to remix some of the biggest names in Denmark like Camille Jones and When Saints Go Machine to name a few. The last years has been focused in a Prdoucer/DJ Duo Strung Fellows with Luis Anaya playing gigs and releasing music on international indie labels as well as on their own vinyl-only Imprint Smeur Records.
Then... Two years ago Max and Music-partner Mads Jensen were asked to make the score and Soundtrack for the short-movie King directed by the young talent Frederik Louis Hviid. This was love at first sight for Max and he is now putting all of his creative being into making soundscapes, themes and ideas for cinematic purpose.
